Review: Final Fantasy VII

I havn't been dissappointed in anything as much as this in a long, long time. I'm a big RPG fan, but FF7 just blows the cake. I'll start first with what it has got: excellent background graphics, and not a bad story line. Other than that, the actually game play sucks beyond belief - the player doesn't actually do anything other than move yr guy from one side of the screen to the other - it's basically interactive cinema, poor cinema at that, with no choice in how the plot thickens. I grew up playing Proper RPG's, like Ultima 4,5, and 7 - and the Pools of Radiance trilogy - they were all good, unlike this shite. I wish i could get a refund. At least my curiosty was satisfied. I didn't want to do negative reviews of anything, under the pretence that I coudln't do better - well suck me - I can and I have. Comment by snafu on Tue Mar 28 19:20:05 EST 2000 ...
what happened to utlima6? when u get further into the game [from what i've seen] it gets better, you get bigass spells, weapons, characters etc the start IS boring as shite, lots of listening and learning, not much fighting. it still seems like repetitive puzzle solving to me. not my cup of tea, gimme half life anyday Comment by egg on Wed Mar 29 00:09:16 EST 2000 ...
u6 was ok but not as memorable as 4,5,7. i think 7 was the best, then 5, which was the first i played back in '89 on my commodore 64 :P (lie: i played ultima 2 on the school's apple 2e for about 10 mins and didn't get it in '88) Comment by NORM! on Sat Apr 1 08:32:46 EST 2000 ...
Just wait until you boys try Final Fantasy 8...not that's a good game with an interesting story and amazing graphics. (PC version)

Final Fantasy VII is like playing a manga. It's not that interactive, but it can be a fun way to pass the time. I think that the battle system and the magic system are the best points, since the physical combat components (armor and weapons) interact so strongly with how quickly the magical elements (materia) develop.

Final fantasy is a mad game i have 7-9
the games may get boring sometimes but the game itself how it works is the best
when you finish the game(which you probably didn't)
and try to get all the secrets it can be quite good
